You can add “funny” to the list of Caitlin Clark’s positive attributes.
The Fever star had reporters and her teammate Aliyah Boston cracking up with a joke about her ankle injury against the Atlanta Dream on Monday.
Not long before the post-game press conference, the world was holding its collective breath when the Fever rookie rolled her ankle early on in the first quarter.
Nobody was laughing at the time. Clark grabbed her left foot while her teammates huddled around her.
The training staff helped her off the bench where she got taped back up – and WNBA fans let out a sigh of relief when she returned to the floor in the second quarter. But for a second, there was panic.

Caitlin Clark Jokes About Her Ankle Injury
Caitlin Clark is oftentimes her own worst critic. Having reviewed footage of the ankle injury, she was at it again. During the post-game presser, she took a jab at herself.
“I saw the replay, and I look really soft. It wasn’t that bad of a turn, but it hurt,” Clark told reporters.
The comment left Boston holding her head and covering her mouth in laughter. Indiana head coach Christie Sides and others in the room were also heard chuckling.
“Sometimes you just need to give yourself a second. If you ever sprained your ankle, it just kind of stings for a little bit. I was good,” said Clark. “You’re not a real basketball player if you haven’t sprained your ankles a bunch. That’s when you know.”

Her Game Ain’t Soft
It’s great that Caitlin Clark can joke about the ankle injury. It could have been much worse. Her interaction with trainers shows the level of determination this rookie has.
“I was good,” she said. “They were like, ‘Do you want to go in the back?’ I’m like, ‘No, please just tape right here, let’s go. We’ve got to keep going.’”
Keep going, she did. Clark came back from the ankle injury and scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out another seven assists, helping the team secure their third win in four games after the Olympic break.
Boston added 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists while Kelsey Mitchell keyed the victory with 29 points and 7 rebounds.
Indiana looks anything but soft right now, sitting just 1.5 games behind Phoenix for the sixth seed.
