Despite losing stars Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham earlier this season, the Indiana Fever moved on in the playoffs, defeating the Atlanta Dream Thursday evening to advance to the WNBA semifinals for the first time in a decade.

It was a pretty exciting game, and, if you’re being honest with yourself, considering all of the major, major injuries endured by the Fever, it was a shocking outcome.

Nobody thought Indiana had a chance. Least of all, the nine ESPN analysts who all predicted the Dream would move on in the playoffs, with all but one predicting a two-game sweep.

Alas, ’twas not to be.

And Caitlin Clark couldn’t help herself. She had to clap back at those basketball insiders who said her team was going to go down in flames.

In response to her team’s upset, she posted a screenshot of those ESPN predictions on social media, according to The Spun, effectively calling out the network. Yeah, bam! In your face, experts!

Fever move on without Caitlin Clark

Despite trailing for most of the game, the Fever clinched the series with an 87-85 win in a thrilling Game 3 in Atlanta. All without the services of Clark or Cunningham.

Indiana capitalized on Atlanta’s foul trouble. Aliyah Boston’s layup with seven seconds left gave the Fever the lead, and Lexie Hull’s steal on the inbound pass sealed the victory.

Kelsey Mitchell led with 24 points, Odyssey Sims had 16 points and eight assists, and Boston contributed 14 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.

Indiana will face the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA semifinals. Game 1 is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. Not too many experts are going to pick them to take down the 2-seed, featuring Defensive Player of the Year A’ja Wilson.

Really into the Action

Despite being sidelined by season-ending injuries, players Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham captured attention from the bench during their first-round WNBA playoff series against the Dream.

One such moment went viral – when the two animatedly protested a non-call on a traveling violation by a Dream player. And they did it in sync.

The Fever ultimately won the game, tying the series at 1-1 and setting up the decisive Game 3.
