The Indiana Fever, even with a significant portion of the WNBA schedule still remaining, has declared rookie guard Caitlin Clark to be the league’s Rookie of the Year.
It’s a rather bold proclamation. But the Fever came with receipts.
The Fever points out that their guard currently leads all other rookies in six statistical categories: Points, assists, steals, threes, field goals made, and free throw percentage.
They captioned the post, “It’s no contest.”
it's no contest.

Will Caitlin Clark Win Rookie Of The Year?
The WNBA Rookie of the Year contest has, to nobody’s surprise, boiled down to a competition between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
And even then, it’s really ‘no contest.’
Head-to-head stats between the two aren’t even close. Yes, Reese has been very impressive this season with her record-breaking string of double-doubles. She’s a monster at the boards.
But on a night-in, night-out basis, Clark is the hands-down most accomplished rookie this season. As you can see, Reese leads in rebounding and that is just about it.
Granted, having the Fever post something essentially predicting she’ll be the victor in the Rookie of the Year race means nothing to the actual outcome. What it does, however, is add pressure to their own player to close out the deal.

Here’s What Caitlin Was Worried About
Former USWNT star Megan Rapinoe and four-time WNBA champion Sue Bird both concur that the Rookie of the Year contest is Caitlin Clark’s to lose.
“I have Caitlin,” Rapinoe said. “She’s leading in all the categories. Assists, turnovers, points.”
Bird had the same pick but said it’s less about stats and more about what she sees Clark doing on the basketball court.
“For Rookie of the Year, I don’t really do the stat comparison. Yeah, it can help inform things when it’s tight for sure. I don’t do the [team] record. I just do the eye test,” Bird said.
“And to me, she [Clark] is rookie of the year.”
Meanwhile, Clark responded to the Indiana Fever’s version of the same post on Instagram with concern about … how her knees looked.
“Bruh r my knees okay? Jeez,” she wrote.
In the second slide of that post, it’s clear her knees have taken quite a beating on the court.
