When she’s not hitting pull-up threes from the logo, Caitlin Clark is apparently hitting ‘dingers’ in the batting cages. Could she be the next two-sport star?

Clark showed off her well-rounded athletic skills in the cages at an Indianapolis Indians game on Thursday. The Indians are the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In video circulating online, Clark can be seen grabbing a Lousiville slugger and announcing, “This is more my jam.”

After expressing some worry that she might “ricochet” the ball into the pitcher standing behind the cage, the Indiana Fever rookie let ‘er rip. I mean, it was off a tee, but whatever.

Clark blasted the shot then turned around confidently and called the action.

“Dinger,” she said with a big smile.

Caitlin Clark Launching Dingers

Caitlin Clark’s skills off the basketball court should come as no surprise. Her parents had her playing softball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, and golf as a child before she eventually settled on basketball.

A report from Hawk Central shows that Clark grew frustrated with softball. Apparently, even though she was already playing two age groups ahead, her throws were so fast from shortstop that the kids playing first couldn’t catch them.

“She was just so much further advanced in that sport that it just became frustrating for her,” her father Brent said.

“It’s slow. You have to wait your turn to hit.”

With a motor that’s always going, it doesn’t appear Caitlin will be the next Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders any time soon. She needs the non-stop action that softball or baseball do not provide. Though, we for sure wouldn’t bet against her either.

Rookie Of The Year

Caitlin Clark is having some fun off the hardwood and in the batting cages. But she’s definitely having more fun in the WNBA these days too.

Clark has solidified her stranglehold on Rookie of the Year honors, returning from the Olympic break by leading her Fever teammates to the 6th seed in the playoffs and a record above .500.

Indiana is 8-3 since other WNBA players returned from Paris. In fact, the 19 wins by the team so far this season are the highest since they had 20 victories during the 2015 season.

The Fever still has three games left to play before the playoffs start.

Radio host Colin Cowherd has said Clark’s appeal is so transcendent that she’s essentially “Taylor Swift in sneakers”.
