Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink recently voiced her discomfort about the influx of unsettling comments following the team’s social media call for male practice players ahead of the 2025 WNBA season.
And by ‘discomfort,’ we mean she was “icked out.”
Which is young people-speak for a vague sense of revulsion caused by others, in case you were curious.
Brink, speaking on her podcast “Straight to Cam,” took issue with a post on X featuring her alongside teammates Kelsey Plum, Dearica Hamby, and Rickea Jackson, inviting men to try out.
The listing reads, “We’re looking for male practice players for the 2025 season. Do you have what it takes?”
Well, when you post something like that on social media, you’re bound to get more than a handful of rubes sitting at home that can’t resist making some smartalecky comments.
Brink wasn’t a fan.

Cameron Brink Was ‘Icked Out’
While practicing against men isn’t new for the Sparks—Brink noted they typically use USC college players—the public nature of this recruitment drew a flood of inappropriate and sexualized responses online.
Comments like “Let Cameron Brink back me down” left the 23-year-old feeling “icked out.”
As such, she is wary of who might end up in the gym. She responded by jokingly suggesting heavy vetting—preferably for players who won’t add to her unease.
“All the comments are like, ‘Let Cameron Brink back me down,’ or something about Rickea or something about Kelsey,” Brink said in a lighthearted fashion. “And now I’m just like, ‘First of all we need to heavily vet these men. Preferably they’re gay.”
“Who are we trusting coming into this gym?”

She’s Not Boxing Anybody Out
It seems Cameron Brink couldn’t resist the jokes because she wasn’t done. The Sparks forward added that if she’s playing against men, the coach might not be happy with her rebounding efforts.
“Lynne [Roberts], our new coach, is gonna be screaming at me for not rebounding. I’m like, ‘I’m not boxing out anyone,'” she joked.
Brink appeared in Sports Illustrated‘s iconic Swimsuit Issue in 2025, which she called “empowering.”
“I’ve always loved SI Swimsuit,” Brink told her fans. “I think it’s super empowering.”
I’ve gotta admit, it does feel pretty empowering to look at this …
Brink was the second overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, behind Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark. She was making solid contributions on the court before injury cut short her season.
