Social media is all a-flutter after seeing a video of Caitlin Clark playing soccer as a freshman. The clip shows the WNBA superstar scoring a goal while shadowed by two defenders by launching the ball from a tight angle.
The video posted to X apparently shows Clark playing for Dowling Catholic High School in her hometown of West Des Moines, Iowa.
In her freshman season, she scored an impressive 23 goals and was named to the Class 3A All-Iowa team by The Des Moines Register. The clip causing a stir is her 11th such goal.
“In toward the keeper. Cross. GOAL!” the announcer yells. “Clark! Beautifully played, right across the front of the keeper.”
“Even though there were two defenders, she got behind them and got the shot across the goal.”
Amazing stuff from a truly gifted athlete.

Caitlin Clark Impresses In Soccer
First off, major props go out to whoever set her up with the 45-yard down-pitch leading pass. That was pretty impressive in and of itself.
JP Pearson, who coached Caitlin Clark in soccer at Dowling, had zero doubts that she would have been a major star in that sport as well.
“She was D-I material in soccer, easily,” Pearson told The Des Moines Register. “She did have a way to go, but if she would have stayed in soccer and made that her No. 1 sport … She was good.”
The video shows her ability. And fans took notice.
“Lmao left-footed from that angle is extremely difficult but I’m not even surprised,” one wrote.
Another added, “Multi sport athlete. Should have known.”
Clark was being heavily recruited in basketball after her sophomore year and the pursuit of becoming the eventual NCAA all-time leading scorer would have to take center stage.
Thank goodness it did. Watching WNBA games is infinitely better than watching an MLS snoozefest.
What Can’t She Do?
When she’s not blowing people away with her record-setting performances on the basketball court, or old videos of her freshman high school year of soccer, Caitlin Clark is wowing people with her skills in the batting cages.
Earlier this week, a video also cropped up on social media showing Clark hitting a “dinger” in batting practice.
“Dinger!” 😂⚾

Caitlin Clark’s skills off the basketball court should come as no surprise. Her parents had her playing softball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, and golf as a child before she eventually settled on basketball. She’s an all-around athlete.
With a Rookie of the Year campaign in the works, in the conversation for MVP, and turning around a dreadful franchise in Indiana by making the playoffs, it appears she made the right choice.
