The son of Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan, Tony Khan, was wearing a neck brace during the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night.
Tony Khan is also the head of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). So the question of the day is… was he selling a storyline or is he really hurt?
An Allegedly Hurt Tony Khan Shows Up To the 2024 NFL Draft
The neck-braced Tony Khan showed up for the first round of the NFL Draft one day removed from being assaulted. Not on the street, but on AEW Dynamite.
Dynamite took place at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, which is connected to EverBank Stadium, home of the Jaguars.
As the Jaguars team chose Brian Thomas Jr. with the No. 23 overall pick in the draft, Khan was seen sitting in the war room wearing a neck brace. The franchise originally had the 17th pick, but traded with the Minnesota Vikings to get the No. 23 pick, and a fifth-round pick.
Still, why the neck brace?
Khan, the founder and head of AEW, was punched in the stomach Wednesday night, followed by a pile driver!
Jack Perry – the son of late Beverly Hills 90210 actor Luke Perry – made his return to AEW that night after a real life backstage confrontation with CM Punk eight months ago, which resulted in Punk being fired and making his way to AEW’s greatest competitor, WWE.
Tony Khan’s Injury
Khan and Perry met in the ring at the end of Dynamite where they exchanged pleasantries and even hugged.
Then Perry punched Khan in the stomach.
Right after that, the AEW world tag team champions the Young Bucks, brothers Matt and Nick Jackson, who are also executive vice presidents within the company came out alongside top singles star Kazuchika Okada.
They confronted Perry, saying, “What the hell are you doing? This is a billionaire. You gotta be careful.”
The Bucks then helped Khan to his feet.
But then… Okada looked at the brothers and gave them two thumbs up. That was not a good sign.
Nick hoists Khan up and puts him in a pile driver position. Matt went to the top rope to help deliver the “Meltzerdriver.” That had been renamed prior months ago as the “Tony Khandriver.”
Perry then dragged an unconscious Khan into the middle of the ring as a referee ran in. Perry yelled at Khan, “what the hell is wrong with you?” Perry then flipped off the crowd and cursed them out.
Is Tony Khan Really Injured?
Once Perry, the Bucks and Okada exit, most of the talent backstage run to the ring to check on their boss, followed closely by Tony’s concerned father, Shad Khan.
The NFL issued a statement early Thursday that Tony Khan’s “status for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2024 NFL Draft obligations could be questionable.”
Yet Tony showed up for the draft. Again, in a neck brace.
Was Tony Khan’s neck actually injured or was it just a wrestling angle?
