Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to odd ideas and conspiracy theories. The Green Bay Packers quarterback has been known to float some outside-the-box thinking when he’s cutting loose, so it should be of no surprise that he had his own take on the recent Chinese balloon controversy.

The four-time NFL MVP floated on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday that the UFOs could be merely a ploy to distract the public or part of some other kind of cover-up.

“It’s interesting timing on everything,” Rodgers said. “There’s a lot of other things going on in the world.”

Rodgers is a frequent guest on McAfee’s podcast, and he was actually stopping by this week before he went on his ‘darkness retreat.’ It’s a sabbatical where he will decide his future. And of course, it’s gotten some chuckles from people in NFL circles and in the media, but the QB insists that it’s not as odd as they think.

After 18 seasons in Green Bay, the veteran is mulling whether to return, retire, or move on. It’s been rumored that he may be looking to rejoin former teammate and All-Pro wide receiver Devante Adams in Las Vegas. The Raiders currently have a vacancy at quarterback after releasing David Carr earlier this week.

McAfee always gets a little extra precocious when the Packers star is on, particularly since one of Rodgers’s former teammates, A.J. Hawk, is a co-host on the show. The old friends typically stray from sports and touch on several different topics. Everything from pop culture to politics seems to be on the table.

In this instance, McAfee and Rodgers went way beyond the stratosphere.

Aaron Rodgers said on McAfee’s show that he isn’t buying the official story. Four UFOs were shot down by the US Government over the last two weeks. One was reported to be a Chinese spy balloon, but the purpose or origin of the other three remains unclear. Rodgers says he thinks that there’s a chance that all of these objects are simply distractions.

“It’s interesting timing on everything,” Rodgers said. “There’s a lot of other things going on in the world.”

“There’s been a lot of disclosure recently. There are a lot of old papers and files and different things about interactions that Navy pilots have had, especially Navy pilots, I believe with unidentified flying objects. So this is not surprising. Obviously, there was some sort of Chinese spy balloon that was up in the air allegedly.”

“And there’s been a few other objects that have been shot down,” he stated.” I believe that this has been going on for a long time. Interesting timing on everything. There’s a lot of other things going on in the world.”
