First Lady Dr. Jill Biden has certainly lived up to the expectations of being a Biden by once again proving that if things can get awkward, that family sure will find a way. The newest example we find ourselves in has to do with Dr. Biden pulling back a White House invitation to the second-place Iowa basketball team, who lost to LSU.

Biden offered the abnormal invitation to them during a state capital visit in Colorado on Monday, after already giving credit and congratulations to the LSU Tigers, who defeated the Hawkeyes 102-85 in the NCAA Finals.

“I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House; we always do,” said Biden. “So, hope LSU will come, but, you know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come too because they played such a good game.”

She added, “So winners and losers, that’s sportsmanship.”

On it’s face, maybe she’s just trying to be nice. It’s not like a special tour wouldn’t be cool, but doesn’t inviting the second place team when the tradition has always been to give it to the winners make it less special?

Well, the offer alone made things pretty uncomfortable, and the situation blew up a bit online when LSU star Angel Reese went to Twitter and called it “a joke.”

Well, by Tuesday, Biden’s staff were once again finding themselves in the usual position of having to do PR damage control so the American public could quickly memory-hole this moment as fast as possible before one of the Biden’s next inevitable blunders.

“The First Lady loved watching the NCAA women’s basketball championship game alongside young student-athletes and admires how far women have advanced in sports since the passing of Title IX,” tweeted Vanessa Valdivia, the press secretary for the FLOTUS.

“Her comments in Colorado were intended to applaud the historic game and all women athletes. She looks forward to celebrating the LSU tigers on their championship win at the White House,” Valdivia added.

Well, the damage was done at that point, and the cover up wasn’t quick enough to get past Shannon Sharpe on this week’s episode of Undisputed either. Sharpe took things in a way different direction by pointing out that by also wanting to invite Iowa initially, Biden’s move could have potentially angered black voters since the Iowa team, unlike LSU, was mostly white.

“Did you forget who helped put your husband in the White House?” questioned Sharpe. “You gonna find out a very serious, hard lesson in ’24. [Joe] will be like a Kentucky or Duke freshman. You’ll be one-and-done.”

Well, it wouldn’t be the first time Jill Biden has managed to annoy an entire racial class either. It feels like only yesterday, she was celebrating Latinos such as myself as being as wonderful as breakfast tacos, during a visit to Texas last year campaigning for Democrats.

“The diversity of this community — as distinct as the bogedas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio — is your strength,” said Biden.
