Vice President Kamala Harris’ presence threw some salt into Howard University’s wounds simply by attending their game last night as they played, and lost, to the reigning NCAA men’s basketball national champion Kansas, 96-68.

Harris took some time out of her not-so-busy schedule to continue ignoring our southern border (which was supposed to be her responsibility according to President Biden) and attend her alma mater’s game. Once there, she wasn’t greeted with the warm welcome one may have expected to be encounter.

Once seated inside of the Wells Fargo Arena in De Moines, Iowa, the stadium camera zoomed over to highlight the special guest in their midst, but once the crowd of college basketball fans got a load of who it was, they showered the VP with boos as Harris appeared on the video board.

According to some reports, “the boos outweighed the cheers from fans.” Probably not the best way to be greeted, especially when you also happen to be in a major battleground state the year before a major election, but I digress.

Things weren’t any nicer afterwards when Harris attempted to cheer up the defeated men of Howard in their locker room.

“You played hard. You played to the very last second. You made all of us Bisons proud,” she said in her typical, peppy political tone you hear when someone is really phoning it in. “You are smart. You are disciplined. You put everything you had into the game. You guys did not stop, and that is so inspiring. So you keep playing with chin up and shoulders back because you showed the world who Biden are.

“So I know you may not be feeling great right now, OK, but know who you are. You are excellence. You are hard work. You are powerful, and you are winners.”

While the videos of the boos from during the game haven’t hit online, the speech did, and the reception to that was far from positive.

“Truly feel bad for these guys,” said conservative influencer Greg Price. “They lost the game and then had to be subjected to this speech.”

“After losing in the NCAA tournament, the team had to get a locker room speech from….. Kamala Harris,” tweeted Trendingpolitics.com co-owner Clayton Keirns. “You can literally feel the cringe in the room. I’m speechless.”

Howard was in their third NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in their program’s history, so that is at least something Bison fans can continue to be proud of.

So far this season, Howard head coach Kenneth Blakeney was able to lead the team to a 22-12, which is great when you consider that three years ago Howard literally only had four wins.
