NFL Vet Michael Oher continues to get pushback on his claim that the Tuohy family enriched themselves off his name since he first launched his lawsuit, as well as his petition to end their conservatorship over him, earlier this month. Now, the producers of the film The Blind Side, which made Oher’s story known globally, have spoken out to dispel another one of his accusations.

According to a recent report from People Magazine, the producers of the film, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, have come out in order to address what they called the “many mischaracterizations and uninformed opinions” regarding the biopic, specifically the amount of money Oher and the Tuohy Family actually earned.
The producers told People Magazine that Michael Oher and the Tuohy family (consisting of husband Sean, wife Leigh Anne, and their children Collins and SJ) received an estimated $767,000 in total payments since the film was released in 2009. Sean and Leigh-Anne have stated that all money earned from the film was split among the five of them.

Johnson and Kosovo stated that the arrangement was “consistent with the marketplace at the time for the rights of relatively unknown individuals.
“Therefore, it did not include significant payouts in the event of the film’s success,” they added. “As a result, the notion that the Tuohys were paid millions of dollars by Alcon [the company which produced the film] to the detriment of Michael Oher is false.”
Oher has recently claimed to have only discovered his adoption status in 2023 and felt the Tuohys misled him into a conservatorship after turning 18 years old.
The Tuohy family lawyer refuted Oher’s claims about ending his conservatorship, labeling them as “baseless and hurtful.”
Michael Lewis’ 2006 book on Oher, “The Blind Side,” was adapted into a film that earned over $330 million at the box office.
