Bubba Wallace must be a little more introspective than usual, because after getting dropped after a disappointing day on the track last Sunday, Wallace took a moment during post race interviews to give himself a pat on the back for not losing his cool and throwing a child-like temper-tantrum.

Wallace told reporters after getting dropped from the Charlotte Roval that he’s proud of himself for having “matured” – as well as not being so mad that he’d resort to “punching” things.
Congratulations are in order?
“We weren’t supposed to be here, according to a lot of people,” said Wallace. “But we’ve proved them wrong and proved a lot of people in the garage wrong that you can’t really count on the 23 in a road course race, right. That’s cool to say. Gotta keep continuing to work. I don’t think we’re a winning car yet, but we’re light years where we were a few races ago.”

Wallace placed 16th at Charlotte Motor Speedway, subsequently missing the next round due to a collision with racers Daniel Suarez and Austin Cindric.
“Ten years ago, I’d be ready to punch something,” Wallace added. “I guess that’s maturing and growing up… and accepting the fate – it wasn’t meant to be.”

For Wallace’s haters and critics out there, maybe they should cut him some slack for not calling them “dumba****” or flipping off the viewers at home. Progress is progress, right?
