As bitter rivals both inside and outside the ring, the war of words continues between UFC stars Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal
Jorge Masvidal may have retired from UFC following his defeat at the hands of Gilbert Burns earlier this year, but that doesn’t mean he’s finished with former MMA nemesis Colby Covington.
Masvidal pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge Monday in a case stemming from an alleged attack on his former friend Covington in March 2022. With that whole bit of legal business out of the way, ‘Hatebreed’ decided to deliver a few verbal shots at Covington as well.
The charges stemmed from Masvidal attacking Covington outside a Miami restaurant shortly after his loss to ‘Chaos’ at UFC 272.
Despite the court case being settled on paper, Jorge Masvidal sounds like nothing between the two is officially over.

“I don’t know when, but me and Colby are going to see each other at some point, whether it’s in a f* cking cage or I don’t know where the f*ck it’s going to be,” Jorge Masvidal told MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. “We’re going to see each other. For him lying on my name, for him pressing charges, for everything he’s done, we are going to see each other.”
“It’s going to be fun, man. It’s going to be interesting. I’m going to knock the rest of his teeth out. I got to knock two of his fake ass teeth out (in March 2022).”
Masvidal retired after losing to Burns in April, but he has already hinted at a potential comeback. This has led many to speculate that he may be angling for another encounter with Covington in The Cage, which could do huge box office numbers for UFC if President Dana White can get the deal done, that is if the two men don’t meet on the street first.
