After a blowup on the sidelines Sunday and another tough game, KC superstar Travis Kelce seems to be in denial of the Chiefs’ recent slide

On Christmas Day, the Raiders slid down the Chiefs’ chimney and gifted Kansas City a 20-14 loss. It was a frustrating day for the defending Super Bowl champions and it showed on the sidelines. Despite the numbers on the scoreboard, Las Vegas kept KC off kilter all day long, but that’s not quite how the Chiefs star tight end, Travis Kelce, saw it.

Are Kelce’s Comments Disrespectful Of The Raiders?

Kelce, who at one point chucked his helmet in frustration during the third quarter, made some comments on his podcast this week that made it sound as if his team handed the game to the Sin City Silver & Black. To some, it sounded a little disrespectful of a division rival that had pretty much handled the champs just a day earlier.

“That was embarrassing,” Travis Kelce told his brother, Eagles lineman Jason, on an episode of the siblings’ New Heights podcast. “We handed that team a win on Christmas. We literally played Santa and gave them a present.”

“All I got for you is that was embarrassing, everybody in the building knows how embarrassing it was. And we got a short week so we’re gonna forget about this sh** real quick.”

It was a subpar performance on the day for Travis Kelce, who had five catches for 44 yards and no touchdowns – well below his normal output. Both he and his team looked incredibly flat, all while Kelce’s girlfriend – pop star Taylor Swift – looked on.

Tough Times Recently In KC

To be fair, Travis Kelce pointed out that they have had similar issues against several other teams besides the Raiders. He conveyed the hiccups that have affected the Chiefs offense and how much it’s affected the team’s psyche.

“Just can’t catch a rhythm,” Kelce said. “It’s not just the Raiders. It’s been a lot of teams that we’ve played. Trying to catch a rhythm and catch stride, knowing that we got guys that we can win with. And it’s a frustrating f***ing experience right now.”

The Chiefs will have a chance to catch the “rhythm” that Travis Kelce talked about over the last two weeks of the 2023 campaign. They host the Cincinnati Bengals (8-7) on New Year’s Eve and close out the regular season in San Diego against the Chargers on January 7th.
