Three people were killed yesterday and a fourth was critically injured when a gunman police identified as a lecturer who was turned down for a job at UNLV opened fire.

Various online reports have identified 67-year-old college professor Anthony Polito as the shooter, though police have yet to specifically state a motive for the attack.

But that didn’t stop James from suggesting the ability to exercise your Second Amendment rights and purchase a firearm is the problem.

“It goes back to what I said before about guns in America,” James said. “The ability to get a gun, the ability to do these things over and over and over, and there’s been no change is literally ridiculous.”

“It makes no sense that we continue to lose innocent lives. The fact that we haven’t changed anything – it’s actually been a lot easier to own a firearm,” he continued. “It’s stupid.”

LeBron James Blasts American Gun Laws

It’s unclear why LeBron James feels it’s actually easier to purchase firearms in America. It’s difficult to ascertain the point from which he is referencing.

What isn’t unclear is that UNLV, like most academic institutions across America, is a gun-free zone. This means that theoretically, it shouldn’t have been easier for that professor to show up on campus with a weapon.

In fact, it should have been impossible.

But LeBron James, much like when he instinctually flops at the slightest touch on the hardwood, couldn’t control himself.

This isn’t the first time James has engaged in an anti-gun rant nobody asked for.

In a 2020 conversation with reporters, the ‘King’ also pushed his theory that guns are the problem in America.

“Firearms are a huge issue in America,” he said. “I don’t know how you clean that up. I’m not saying that I’ve got all the answers, but guns are a huge issue in America.”

James’ Other Ill-Advised Rant

During that same conversation, LeBron James also insinuated that gun owners and/or the police make black people feel like they’re being hunted.

James explained that guns aren’t “used for just hunting that a lot of people do for sport.”

“Right now for Black people, right now when you’re hunting, we think you’re hunting us. Unfortunately, there’s just too many killings going on.”

James also stated that this includes black-on-black violence in the community.

The NBA star often pops off about subjects he knows very little about. James was on the receiving end of criticism when he tweeted a threat at a Columbus, Ohio police officer following the shooting of Ma’Khia Bryant in 2021.

Bryant, it turns out, was shot by the officer as she was attacking another teen with a knife.

“You’re next,” he wrote, what some critics described as a direct threat toward the officer, before deleting the tweet.

He was forced to delete it when a video surfaced showing the officer had actually saved the life of another teenager whom Bryant was attempting to stab.
