Is six-time Super Bowl winner Bill Belichick really on his way out after a legendary coaching stint in New England?

Amidst a season where nothing has gone right, legendary Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has found himself in an unfamiliar place this season. After winning six Super Bowls and becoming an automatic future Hall of Famer, the man under the hoodie is now under fire. New England (3-10) is one of the NFL’s worst teams in 2023, and Belichick might just be coming to the end of his title-laden tenure.

Multiple reports are indicating that Patriots owner Robert Kraft has already made his mind up to fire Bill Belichick at the end of the season.

They also state that the 82-year-old billionaire came to that conclusion following the Pats’ 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany in week 10.

At least one NFL insider says that pathetic performance was the straw that broke the camels’ back.

“When they came out of Germany, conversations I had that week made it very clear that a decision was made,” NBC Sports Tom E. Curran stated this week. “They were going to play out the string, and at the end of the year there would be a parting of the ways, for a variety of reasons.

“The Germany game, the Commanders game, the Saints game: all huge marquee games, and then there was the Chargers game after that. Just because they won last week in Pittsburgh in prime time, I don’t think it quells anything.”

Kraft has not made any public statements regarding Belichick’s future. However, most experts and analysts agree that it’s doubtful the owner would decide to make a move on such a storied figure in franchise history in the middle of the season. Particularly a season that is all but lost, anyway.

If this is truly the end, Bill Belichick will leave behind a one-of-a-kind legacy.

He spent 24 seasons at the helm of the New England Patriots, the highest-tenured head coach in the NFL ahead of the Steelers’ Mike Tomlin (16 years) and the Ravens’ Jim Harbaugh (15). Along with his six Lombardi trophies, he also led the Minutemen to the AFC East Division title for 11 straight seasons, from 2009 through 2019.
