A One-Year Warrior

Tuesday was the first anniversary of the moment when Damar Hamlin nearly lost his life on live television. It was a moment that gripped the nation. The NFL ordered the game to be stopped, and it was eventually not even re-played at a later date.

Hamlin became a symbol of courage in the weeks and months that followed, culminating in his return to action in 2023.

So this week, he paid tribute to his surviving cardiac arrest with a tattoo. The image is an outline of the famous ‘heart hands’ symbol used throughout his “3 for Heart” campaign. The tattoo, located on the back of his neck, also has an electrocardiogram line inside the heart shape.

Fighting For A Cause

At the time, there was a lot of speculation over what caused Damar Hamlin to go into cardiac arrest at the tender age of just 24. Later, the Bills star revealed that commotio cordis was the cause for his attack.

Since then, Damar Hamlin has partnered with the American Heart Association to promote heart health and CPR training.

This tattoo – a heartfelt tribute – serves as a reminder of his remarkable recovery and the support he received from his fans and the medical team.
