Tom Brady is a single-digit handicap in golf. And, of course, the GOAT when it comes to NFL quarterbacks. So he’s a legend among athletes. But for one very brief moment, he looked like one of us on the golf course.

Brady had quite the moment at the 2024 Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament on Friday. Picture this: you’re one of the greatest athletes in history, and you step up to the tee, ready to show off your golf skills. The crowd is watching, and you’re feeling confident. You swing… and then this happens.

We’ve all been there, man. And honestly, his reaction was much better than this author’s after suffering a similar incident some years ago.

I had teamed up with a friend in a local Best Ball tournament. After scoring a birdie on the first two holes on the back nine, we were pumped up and ready to move up the leaderboard. After a solid drive, we noticed the ball had landed in a bit of mud. No matter, I took out my trusty 2-iron and was going to blast that mother into oblivion.

Instead, I topped it, and the ball rolled about three feet. I reacted calmly and with grace … by snapping the two-iron over my knee and marching up the fairway, one piece of the club in each fist.

You can tell Tom Brady is a bit pissed off over that tee shot, but at least he held it together.

Tom Brady Has a Tough Showing At Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Brady, the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and 7-time Supre Bowl champion, was paired with Keegan Bradley, the former PGA champion. After completing both rounds in the tournament, the two finished at 12-under, good enough for a tie at 20th place.

Rory McIlroy and Jeff Rhodes, a co-managing partner of TPG Capital with a higher handicap than Brady, won the pro-am title at 17-under.

Finishing in a tie for 6th place was another NFL quarterback, the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen, who was paired with Keith Mitchell. Mitchell has one PGA Tour win on his resume, the 2019 Honda Classic where he drained a 15-foot birdie putt to beat out Rickie Fowler and Brooks Koepka.

Allen took a bit of joy in defeating Tom Brady on the golf course.

“I think that’s the first time I’ve beat him [Brady] in anything,” the Buffalo Bills quarterback quipped. “Yeah, I wish it was on the football field, but I will take it. It feels real good.”
