WNBA: Draft
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Record-breaking former Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball player Caitlin Clark is seeing her life change in a big way. She was just selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA Draft. She landed a contract with Nike worth more than $25 million.

Clark is the absolute toast of the sports world right now following a career at Iowa that saw her break the career and single-season college basketball records for points scored. She’ll soon make her debut with the Fever in front of tens of thousands of fans.

But as some things change, others stay the same.

Clark’s personal life has not been a major talking point around the media world. She has been dating former Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball player Connor McCaffery for a year now. Clark also just celebrated said anniversary on social media.

“One year of the best mems w my fav person. You make everyday better and I can’t wait for many more adventures together. Love you.”

Now, isn’t that absolutely adorable? Doesn’t it make your heart warm? Unless you’re bitter, sad, single and lonely; it certainly should.

McCaffery’s response was just as adorable.

“Doing life w u has been easy,” he said, “and you never cease to amaze me.. can’t wait to watch u live out ur dreams in person. Love you.”

While the two have been doing their own thing recently due to life circumstances, they seem to be in absolute love. As it relates to McCaffery, he currently works for Clark’s Indiana Fever team. Match made in heaven, right?

McCaffery played for Iowa from 2017-23, averaging just 4.5 points per game. Somehow, we don’t think he’s too jealous about his better half also being better on the court. Though, we do have to wonder whether they have played one-on-one. After all, a certain NFL Draft prospect from Iowa would like to get in on that action.

Anyway, congratulations to the cute couple. Don’t let the haters get you down.
