“The Pat McAfee Show” has become extremely popular since it made its way to ESPN from FanDuel. As a former kicker, McAffee was known to NFL fans. But his oftentimes electric personality coupled with having on some controversial guests have made the show a hit.

McAfee also has not been free from drama since making his way to the four-letter network. Whether it’s recent comments made in the direction of WNBA star Caitlin Clark or his explosive interviews with NFL legend Aaron Rodgers, the media personality has found himself in the news a whole lot.

Expect that to continue following Thursday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show.”

The host had Shams Charania of The Athletic on Thursday. They were previously colleagues at FanDuel. But now have to be seen as rivals with fellow NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski doing his thing at ESPN.

This is where it took a pretty major turn.

McAffee shaded Woj without naming him.

“Shams is our NBA guy. Completely OK with other NBA guys being our guy, but Shams has been our guy for literally half a decade,” McAfee said.

That’s just a whole bunch of ouch. The fact that McAfee said this on ESPN adds another layer to the situation.

Dating back more than a decade, Charania and Woj have been rivals. Shams worked under Woj earlier in his career, learning a lot from the NBA insider. Since then, a rivalry has taken hold.

When news breaks on socials, fans look to see who got it first. It’s been a whole thing on X (formerly Twitter).

Woj joined Yahoo! Sports full time back in 2007 before moving on to ESPN a decade later. As noted above, Woj acted as a mentor to Charania at Yahoo! before the latter left for The Athletic back in 2018.

We’re sure that McAfee is going to hear it from the powers that be in Bristol after his comments on Thursday.
