Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning never misses an opportunity to go after the New England Patriots. Whether he’s still bitter over losing to them in the NFL Playoffs multiple times during New England’s dynastic run or just wants to be funny, it’s still clearly in his head.

We saw this come out first-hand as he took part in NBC’s broadcast of the 2024 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Appearing with Mike Tirico and Kelly Clarkson on coverage for NBC from Paris, the conversation quickly turned to Team Canada.

As Bounding Into Sports reported recently, the Canadian Soccer team is under investigation for spying on New Zealand in the lead up to their women’s soccer match on Friday.

“On behalf of our entire team, I first and foremost want to apologize to the players and staff at New Zealand Football and to the players on Team Canada. This does not represent the values that our team stands for,” Canadian head coach Bev Priestman said in a statement. “I am ultimately responsible for conduct in our program. Accordingly, to emphasize our team’s commitment to integrity, I have decided to voluntarily withdraw from coaching the match on Thursday.”

Ultimately, Priestman was sent home from the Summer Olympics after further evidence proved that spying on opponents has been a longstanding theme for Canadian soccer.

Back to Manning for a second. He opted to absolutely troll the Patriots as the Hall of Famer took part in a discussion over Team Canada.

Check out the clip. It’s pretty darn hilarious.

A noted Dallas Cowboys fan, Clarkson’s response was great. “Spygate. I love you,” the music superstar said.

As most of you already know, a similar situation unfolded in the NFL back in 2007 when New England Patriots coaches were caught taping opposing teams’ signals during games under then-head coach Bill Belichick. He was fined $500,000 while the Patriots were docked a first-round pick.

As for Manning’s debut on coverage of the Summer Olympics as a whole. Well, he had jokes throughout.

His deadpan humor is just awesome. It will continue to add entertainment as NBC and its partners broadcast the Summer Olympics from France.

We’re looking forward to some more of this.
