Bryce James, the 17-year-old son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, has committed to playing college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats.

He announced the decision on social media, stating he is “100% committed” with a photo of himself in an Arizona uniform.

LeBron shared the photo on Instagram along with a message in all caps and absolutely drenched in emojis, making it nearly indiscernible from a post by Angel Reese.

The message shared the school’s “Bear Down” rally cry accompanied by emojis for each, presumably to the benefit of followers who can’t read.

“CONGRATULATIONS MAXIMUS!!” he wrote. “SO PROUD OF YOU!!!”

Bryce James Headed To Arizona

Before choosing Arizona, Bryce James had offers from Ohio State and Duquesne.

He’ll instead head to Arizona, following his older brother, Bronny James, and his path through college basketball. Bronny played at USC before joining his father with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA.

Bryce will almost assuredly best his brother’s stats at USC. He could probably do so with his eyes closed, which, incidentally, is how Bronny must have taken shots in college.

Some consider Bryce James to be a better NBA prospect than Bronny. He is a shooting guard who stands 6′ 6″ tall and attended Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, California.

But that’s not saying much. Bronny plays in the NBA and still isn’t a very good NBA prospect.

Will He Play With LeBron Too?

ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, in discussing a timeline for the potential retirement of LeBron James, floated the idea that the Lakers star might try to hang on so he can play with his other son.

“My sense is next season could potentially be his last season in the NBA,” Charania said. “Could he play another season after that to 2026 or 2027? Potentially.”

That’s when he dropped a bombshell.

“Maybe Bryce James keeps him around an extra year or two.”

The Lakers were dumb enough to waste a draft pick on LeBron’s original make-a-wish dream. Would they dare do so again?

The elder James recently suggested he could play for several more years in the NBA but would choose not to.

“To be honest, if I really wanted to, I could probably play this game at a high level probably for about another — it’s weird that I might say this — but probably about another five to seven years, if I wanted to,” James said.

“But I’m not going to do that.”
