Former New England Patriots player Asante Samuel took a jab, albeit a playful jab, at his old coach, Bill Belichick, for carrying on a romance with 24-year-old former cheerleader Jordon Hudson.

Samuel, who won two Super Bowls under Belichick’s leadership, spoke to TMZ Sports about his former coach’s off-the-field relationship. He notes that Bill was adamantly opposed to such distractions for players.

“Coach is being a hypocrite, man,” he said. “He’s been a hypocrite the way he’s carrying on. He told us to stay off and don’t have family distractions and things like that.”

“Coach got all this stuff going on! Coach, where did this come from?” Samuel continued. “Why wasn’t we able to enjoy ourselves like this now that you want to enjoy yourself!”

Not the first player to complain about the Jordon Hudson relationship

Asante Samuel isn’t the first former player to complain about Bill Belichick’s romance with Jordon Hudson. Specifically, the fact that it serves as a distraction for the team. The University of North Carolina is undoubtedly getting a taste of that right now.

Not only does a romance involving a coach nearly 50 years older than his girlfriend lend itself to perpetual headlines, but Hudson is very much in control of her boyfriend’s career right now, and is often spotted on the sidelines, a place she definitely does not belong.

Yep, that right there is a distraction.

Rob Gronkowski, who won three Super Bowls with Belichick in New England, has also been vocal in his criticism, suggesting that Hudson is causing chaos as the coach tries to make his mark in Chapel Hill.

He said Belichick’s successful career has been marked by a desire to eliminate distractions. And yet, here we are with this nonsense on repeat.

“You know, and in the back of your head, too, you’re just thinking to yourself as well, ‘When you were on the Patriots, the whole goal was to eliminate all the distractions that can possibly happen while you’re on the team,’” Gronkowski told 98.5 The Sports Hub.

“And don’t bring those distractions to the team and in the locker room, and we’re just looking down at the program in North Carolina, and it feels like there are just distractions 24/7 down there.”

Asanti says it’s all good

Despite throwing shade at Belichick for his ‘hypocritical’ relationship with Jordon Hudson, Samuel revealed that he is happy for his former coach.

He just wants the Hoodie to finally be happy as well.

“Whatever that looks like, just be happy,” Samuel said. “Find happiness. If it’s gonna be a little embarrassing, and you don’t mind, the other person doesn’t mind, and y’all are happy together and it’s authentic, I mean, go with it.”

That authenticity has led to a terrible 4-5 record thus far, in which the Tar Heels’ four wins have come against teams with a combined record of 13-26.

Hey, but at least he gets to go home to Jordon at the end of a rough day.
