Bill Belichick, the 73-year-old first-year head coach of the University of North Carolina football team, was spotted attending a cheerleading competition to support his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.

Because that’s what couples in love do. They support each other. Whether on the sidelines of a football game, or creepily watching cheerleaders roughly half a century younger.

While Jordon was likely thrilled, perhaps some of her young squadmates weren’t. No matter, Bill was there and that’s all that she needed.

Hudson, a former Bridgewater State University cheerleader, performed with the coed Code Black squad as part of the Cheer Extreme All Stars X Evolution exhibition.

Photos captured Belichick on the sidelines wearing – you’re never going to guess this – a gray sweatshirt!

Honestly, it’s hard to believe this is real life. One, that 24-year-olds still take part in cheerleading competitions (go ahead, send the hate e-mails), and two, that some septuagenarian was just able to watch without anyone wondering what the heck is going on.

But here we are.

Bill Belichick’s appearance was just one day after UNC suffered a 28-12 loss to Wake Forest, dropping its season record to 4-6. The Tar Heels are 2-5 in their last seven games, with those two wins coming against opponents with a 6-14 record, and two of only four teams sitting below them in the standings.

Not to mention, Bill had to fight off rumors once again that he would be leaving North Carolina behind to take an NFL gig. So it’s been a rather stressful week for the coach.

And while most men his age might try to de-stress with a bit of gardening, some pickleball, a little stamp collecting, Belichick eschews it all by watching dance competitions.

To each his own!

He’s really into it

Lest ye be under the impression that the curmudgeonly football coach is simply there as a support mechanism for Jordon, we contend to you that Bill Belichick is very serious about his cheerleading competitions.

Recall, if you will, that he once inserted himself into a cheerleading feud between Hudson and a female radio host who wasn’t all that impressed with her cheeriness … or something.

“She was Bridgewater State’s cheerleader, which is Division III, which isn’t even like competition level,” the radio host said. “I could have been a Bridgewater State Cheerleader.”

Jordan fought back, then got Beli-cheer involved. In an online Instagram story, she snapped a picture of Belichick making a bear claw gesture (BSU’s mascot is the Bears) and sporting a BSU Bears cheer shirt.

No, I’m not kidding. I swear to you this is real.

From the hoodie to a cheerleading shirt. Could pompoms be far behind?

Belichick is a legend, no matter what he does from here on out in his career. That said, having seemingly spurned the New York Giants’ offer and watching his team limp its way through a terrible season, perhaps the next coaching gig will involve Jordon’s team.
