As a loyal Liberty Flames fan and alumnus, there’s nothing sweeter than a little friendly rivalry, especially when it involves ruining the plans of the opposition. This Saturday, our Flames head to Kidd-Brewer Stadium to take on Appalachian State, and let’s just say, we’re about to have some fun with it.
App State thought they had it all figured out with their third-ever “White Out” game, aiming to dazzle the crowd with a sea of white at their home stadium. But in a move that can only be described as perfectly petty, Liberty is showing up ready to rain on their parade – or rather, their whiteout.
Liberty Raining On The Parade
According to BroBible, App State announced their White Out plans long ago, but here’s the kicker: they aren’t even wearing white uniforms themselves! Talk about a plan backfiring!
The Mountaineers are sticking to their school colors, black and gold, while still asking fans to “Wear White.” And, in true awkward fashion, they’ve even had to backtrack a bit, quietly removing the #WearWhite hashtag from their social media posts.
To be fair, it’s not the first time we’ve seen teams ruin a White Out theme this season. Baylor hilariously messed up Colorado’s last weekend, and Miami took the wind out of Florida’s sails during Week 1. It’s almost becoming a trend for visiting teams to spoil these themed games.
But what makes this one special? The deep-seated rivalry between our very own Jamey Chadwell and App State, which stretches back to his Coastal Carolina days.
Chadwell, in all his fiery, competitive glory, already stoked the flames (pun intended) back in August. And now, as Liberty gets ready to take the field, there’s an undeniable sense that we’re taking the White Out over on purpose. It’s the ultimate power move.
As Flames fans, this is exactly the kind of bold, cheeky behavior we love. It’s not just about winning the game; it’s about getting in their heads and owning the moment. And if there’s one thing we know, it’s that Liberty doesn’t shy away from big moments or big rivalries.
So, let the White Out go down in Boone this weekend. But just remember who’s coming out on top, both on the field and in the uniform game. Let’s go, Flames!
