Tiger Woods has just made a devastating announcement about his health that could put an end to his golf career forever.

Woods Suffers Brutal Injury

Woods, 49, revealed on social media on Tuesday that he has ruptured his Achilles tendon. Naturally, it will put him out of commission for some time.

“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” Woods wrote. “This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon.”

“The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery,” added Dr. Stucken.

Woods concluded by writing, “I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support.”

Woods Is Likely Out For The Year

While it’s a relief to see that doctors expect a full recovery, there’s also virtually no chance that Woods will be able to participate in the Masters next month. Indeed, it typically takes an athlete four to six months to recover from a ruptured Achilles tendon. This means that Woods would likely miss the entire season, and wouldn’t be able to play again until 2026 at the earliest.

Woods has not been able to play at the Tour-level since The Open last summer. The bulk of this lay-off was due to back surgery that took Woods months to recover from. Then his mother died on February 4, prompting him to withdraw from the Genesis Invitational. Her death was sudden, and it hit Woods especially hard.

“This is the third time I’ve touched a club since my mom passed, so I haven’t really gotten into it,” Woods said last week. “My heart is not into practicing right now.”

“I have so many other things to do with the tour,” he continued. “Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I´ll start looking at the schedule.”

Woods has had tons of health issues over the years. The golf legend has previously torn the Achilles tendon in his right ankle. He’s also ruptured ligaments in his left knee. On top of that, Woods almost lost his right leg in a 2021 car crash.

Woods’ Fellow Golfers Send Love To Him

Woods’ fellow golfers have been speaking out to send their well-wishes to him. World No. 5 golfer Ludvig Åberg was told of Woods’ latest injury during a press conference at TPC Sawgrass, the site of this week’s Players Championship.

“Obviously, it’s very unfortunate,” Aberg said in response. “But, yeah, I mean, I wish him a speedy recovery and hope everything goes well.”

The renowned golfer Rory McIlroy also addressed Woods’ injury on Tuesday.

“It sucks,” McIlroy said. “He doesn’t have much luck when it comes to injuries and his body. Obviously he was trying to ramp up to get ready for Augusta and achilles surgeries aren’t fun.

‘I am hoping he’s in good spirits and hoping he’s doing OK,” he added. “We obviously won’t see him play golf this year and hopefully we see him maybe play in 2026.”

We can only hope that this is not the end of Woods’ golf career. Please join us in saying a prayer for him!
