Draymond Green has been one of the most dynamic and polarizing players in the NBA for years. He is a four-time league All-Star and a four-time world champion with the Golden State Warriors.
However, all too often, his play is marred by things that distract from his team’s focus. Such was the case Sunday evening when the Warriors took on the New Orleans Pelicans.
Play was halted briefly in the second quarter when Green confronted – nay, got in the face of – a fan who had apparently insulted him. The fan reportedly did not use obscenities. Nor did he make reprehensible comments or use slurs against the player.
No, what really ticked off Green to the point where he had to confront the fan? The person in question dared to call him “Angel Reese.”
Draymond Green doesn’t like being compared to Angel Reese
There are so many levels to this insult that make it hilarious. Green was being compared to Reese because he was in the throes of a brutal 3-of-13 shooting night. But, much like Angel often does, he was cleaning up on the offensive boards.
Reese is notoriously bad at making two-point shots, particularly layups, to the point where fans have accused Reese of padding her rebounding stats by missing easy shots, on purpose or otherwise.
She literally had to file for the rights to the term “Mebounds” because her WNBA league-leading rebound stats are so clearly pumped up by missing her own shots.
So Green, who actually has a worse shooting percentage than Reese this season, didn’t like the comparison.

“He just kept calling me a woman,” Green said after the game. “He got quiet, though. So, it was fine.”

“I wasn’t using profanity, and for him to walk 12 feet off the court to come and get in my face like that, it was a little unnerving,” the fan told the Associated Press.
It wasn’t precisely the rebounding insult that set Green off. Apparently, it was being referred to as a woman, which must be super-frowned upon for a team whose home base is in ultra-woke San Francisco.
“It was a good joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman,” he told reporters. “I’ve got four kids and one on the way. You can’t keep calling me a woman. It’s all good. He got quiet, though, so it was fine.”

Punishment forthcoming?
Look, I have absolutely nothing against Draymond Green personally or professionally. And there is no nice way to put this, but – he is a blithering moron.
The fan told the AP that Green responded to his taunts by hurling expletives and threatening to “punch him out if he continued the ‘Angel Reese’ taunts.”
That is a violent threat. Officials were incredibly slow at getting between Green and the fan. If something went awry in that situation, we easily could have been looking at a riot in the building similar to “Malice at the Palace.”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr downplayed the threat to the fan after the game.
“As long as it doesn’t escalate, it’s fine (for a player) to go over and have a discussion,” Kerr said. “It would have been nice if security had gotten there a little bit earlier.”
Yeah, no. The discussion reportedly was about how Green wanted to rearrange the man’s face. That is an easy suspension for the league to hand down, for multiple games. And it will be warranted.
Kerr should know better, but it’s clear he’s also not the brightest crayon in the box. Draymond has a history of drawing fines and ejections for his confrontational style. A style that has even led to Green jawing with other fans.
Three seasons ago, Green was fined $25,000 for what the NBA described as “directing obscene language toward a fan.” He served two suspensions and was ejected four times throughout the 2024 season.
Now he’s escalating to threats? Time to lay the hammer down.
