Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson took in a little more basketball action than she probably intended to Tuesday night. Hudson watched courtside as the New York Knicks took on the Golden State Warriors.
Hudson, who attended the game with Common, was speaking with the rapper when Knicks point guard Miles McBride batted away an attempted pass to Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski.
Unfortunately, the altered trajectory forced the ball directly toward her face.
Making matters worse, McBride, attempting to retrieve the ball before it went out of bounds, crashed into Hudson on the sideline.
The Knicks star checked on the “Spotlight” singer to ensure she was okay. A dazed Hudson shook it off, checked on her glasses, opted not to put them back on, and declared, “Wow.”
Wow indeed.

Jennifer Hudson Watching A Full Contact Sport
First, we’re glad Jennifer Hudson is okay after the incident. Second, Common really needs to work on his reaction time.
How are you letting this poor woman get beaned in the grill like that?
TNT play-by-play man Ian Eagles had some solid jokes for the folks at home after the incident, as he noted of the offending Knicks player: “I don’t think Miles McBride is going to be invited on the ‘Jennifer Hudson Show.'”
He also jabbed her rapper companion by referring to it as a “Common foul.”
Well done, Ian. Well done.
I missed Ian Eagle's follow-up joke about the "Common foul" so let me give you the edit pic.twitter.com/MW5zoUdBAC

At Least They Won, Right?
Unfortunately for Jennifer Hudson and the other Knicks fans in attendance, the hometown team fell to the Warriors 114-102.
Imagine paying thousands for two tickets courtside at Madison Square Garden, leaving with slight bruising to your dome and not even leaving the arena with a win. It’s not the best NBA experience for a fan.
At least Tuesday’s game wasn’t emblematic of the Knicks season, which has been pretty good.
The Knicks have had a strong 2024-2025 season so far, boasting a 40-21 record and holding a top-three spot in the Eastern Conference.
They remain optimistic, with key players like Jalen Brunson leading the charge and room for improvement as the roster gets healthier.
Will Jennifer Hudson be courtside when the Knicks make their playoff run? Will she have to wear one of those Hannibal Lecter masks players use for broken noses? One can only hope.
