Legendary actor Danny DeVito gave perhaps his best performance of all time, somehow capturing exactly how all of us felt watching New York Giants kicker Younghoe Koo deliver one of the worst field goal attempts in NFL history.

First, the kick. Or lack thereof.

In a Monday Night Football clash at Gillette Stadium, the Giants’ special teams unit suffered a catastrophic breakdown during a 47-yard field goal attempt in their game against the New England Patriots.

Koo, who planted his left foot too close to the ball, failed to make contact with the pigskin and kicked the turf instead. I mean, he missed the ball and kicked dirt by a clear foot-and-a-half.

Rest assured, you’ve never seen anything like this in your adult sports-viewing life.

Danny DeVito can’t hide his thoughts on the Younghoe Koo kick

The Giants fell to 2-11 on the season, losing to the Patriots 33-15. They are clearly one of the worst teams in the league and have really been for several years now. And man, this field goal effort perfectly encapsulates their season.

Were they going to win the game? Probably not. But these potential three points would have pulled them within a touchdown mid-way through the second quarter. It’s a blunder you can ill afford at any time of the game, against any opponent, let alone the best team in the league right now.

Danny DeVito, the star of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, was watching the game with Peyton Manning and his brother Eli, who played for the Giants, when YounghoeKoo’s kick attempt went south.

“I’ve never seen that,” Devito said, hands on his head. “I’ve never seen that.”

The reaction gets better … or worse, depending on your viewpoint

At this point, the boys in the booth had assumed that the Giants’ kicker tripped. But nay, upon review of the instant replay video, they realize he just kicked … the ground.

“What the hell was that?” DeVito spat out.

What the hell was that, indeed.

“Eli, it’s like one of your fat 9-irons you hit,” Peyton joked. “It’s just all grass.”

The Patriots followed Younghoe Koo’s flub by running up 13 unanswered points in roughly five minutes before closing halftime with a 30-7 lead.

From a possible 17-10 deficit to down 30-7. The Giants’ season in a nutshell.
