The Colorado Buffaloes were were certainly a story under first-year head coach Deion Sanders a season ago. He brought a new swag to the long-downtrodden program and had some initial success.
As the season played out, struggles became the name of the game in Boulder despite his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, playing at a high level. At that same time, Sanders’ often controversial comments made headlines.
With his second season as the Colorado head coach set to start August 29 against North Dakota State, Sanders finds himself under a microscope. A lot of that has to do with what the Pro Football Hall of Famer and his son have said this past spring and summer.
We’re now heaing more on the state of the Colorado football program under Sanders. It’s not what we’d call a positive.

‘Grand Theft Auto’ Environment Under Deion Sanders With The Colorado Buffaloes

“It’s like a real-life Grand Theft Auto video game,” an anonymous former player told Athlon Sports. “There are many distractions with fights, guns, and money floating around. The environment is unlike any I’ve come from before.”
Sanders has been open about how Name, Image Likeness (NIL) has played a role in bringing in transfers and top recruits to Boulder. But this is the first time we’re hearing about fights and guns becoming part of the lexicon in Colorado.
These allegations are similar to what former five-star recruit Cormani McClain said this past spring after he transferred from Colorado to the Florida Gators.
An eight-time Pro Bowler during his 14-year NFL career, Sanders was bandied about as a potential NFL head coach candidate during his first season at Colorado.
The former Jackson State head coach now finds himself in the news for all the wrong reasons. It’s obviously not a great look.
