Cowboys owner Jerry Jones finally addressed the controversy surrounding a chaotic radio interview in which he threatened to replace the hosts of a local show for asking the wrong questions.
Ironically, he did so on the very same show.
Jerruh, you may recall, absolutely lost his mind during his regular weekly radio interview on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas last Sunday.
The hosts pressed Jones about the team’s offseason moves and overall strategy following a shellacking by the Detroit Lions. Suffice it to say, he wasn’t in the mood.
“If you think I’m going to get on a damn phone call with you over the radio and sitting here throwing out all the good with the dishwater, you must be smoking something,” Jones said at the time.
“This is not your job. Your job isn’t to make me go over all the reasons I did something and that I’m sorry that I did it – that’s not your job. You’ll do your job, or I’ll ask somebody else to ask these questions,” he fumed.
He got the backlash as one might expect, and now he’s offering up his reasons.
Jerry Jones Talks About Crazy Radio Interview
Given the opportunity to confront the same radio show, Jerry Jones opted to downplay the whole ordeal.
“I don’t have anything to say about last week,” he said before saying more about last week. “I’m surprised last week got the attention it got.”
But is he really? After he insinuated he pays the radio hosts?
That’s when things got a little weird.
#Cowboys' Jerry Jones said that his segments with 105.3 The Fan are like pillow talk and explained to them that the devil made him make bad decisions. 😆😂🤣… pic.twitter.com/8UHeJMbKqA

“But when I think about what we try to do on this show… those (appearances) are really a privilege, it’s kind of like pillow talk – you get some inside stuff,” he explained. “I’m tickled to death that we have as much interest as we do.”
I never thought I’d hear the words ‘pillow talk’ and ‘tickled to death’ in the same segment. I definitely never thought I’d hear those phrases combined by Jerry Jones.
And I never want it to happen again. Good Lord, the only thing that could possibly be worse is if he talks about gl- … Ya know what, never mind.

It Got Worse
I’m not sure if Jerry was trying to disarm the radio host he’d threatened with humor or what, but the conversation then steered from ‘pillow talk’ to Jones’ wife.
He said the discussions they usually engage in are similar to the types of probing questions he might receive from his wife Eugenia.
He referred to them as, “Get in your […] type of questions.”
The stuff of nightmares, folks. While we and Jones are joking – I hope – the comments he made last week were taken quite seriously by ESPN analyst Shannon Sharpe.
“I hate, I detest, I despise someone that will prey on the weak,” Sharpe fumed. “And because Jerry Jones is in an advantageous situation, because he has the power in this situation, he would actually say that publicly.”
“That tells me a lot about a man.”
Sharpe pointed out that Jones’ character is in question when he’s willing to publicly flaunt his ability to wield power over unassuming radio hosts.
For his part, one co-host seemed to be past the whole ordeal already.
“You’ve provided us radio gold and it is a privilege to be able to do this show with you for 15 years,” he groveled. “We had some fireworks!'”
