Sports fans in Philadelphia are some of the worst, by far, in the country. (Or best, depending on your view!) But, we gotta hand it to them: taunting Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones throughout a blowout win for their team was far more entertaining than the game itself.

Jerry probably would have had more fun attending another paternity hearing than having to deal with Eagles fans from his luxury box at Lincoln Financial Field.

His Cowboys had won four out of their last five games before entering the contest against Philadelphia. But they quickly reverted to early season form, unable to stop the run game with their soft defense and falling 41-7.

Jones, meanwhile, was unable to stop the fans from heckling him. Which they did. Often.

Eagles Fans Hammer Jerry Jones – Deservedly So

Eagles fans chanted, “Dallas sucks!” throughout the game and harassed Jerry Jones as often as they could. Even more so whenever their team scored, which was seemingly every other play.

“Jerry, you’re doing a great job this year, man. Keep it going,” one fan sarcastically yelled. “Great job. Keep doing what you’re doing, Jerry. We love you in Philly.”

We bet they do.

He’s The Best Person For The Job – In His Mind

The problem is that, while Eagles fans were being sarcastic, Jerry Jones genuinely thinks he’s the best man for the job, despite a thirty-year Super Bowl drought in which the only common denominator was… him.

He said as much before this disaster of a season started.

“Hell no, there’s nobody that could […] come in here and do all the contracts … and be a GM any better than I can,” he claimed without evidence.

After the 1990s, the team experienced significant playoff droughts and controversies, with Jones often criticized for his personnel decisions and the team’s failure to return to an NFC Championship game, much less a Super Bowl.

Last year’s loss to the Packers marked Dallas’ 13th straight playoff appearance without reaching a conference championship. The glory days of the ’90s have remained in the ’90s.

Since winning the Super Bowl in 1995, the storied franchise has just five playoff wins. Fans often note that the one and only consistent entity during that time has been Jones as general manager.

In completely related news, Texas Monthly just named Jones their “Bum Steer of the Year.”

“Under his ownership, the Dallas #Cowboys have become a moneymaking mediocrity,” they write. “For transforming America’s Team into America’s Punch Line, we’re giving Jones our magazine’s highest dishonor.”

If anybody deserves the heckling, it’s Jerry Jones.
