The NFL Pro Bowl is officially irrelevant. In actuality, it’s been pretty bad for just about ever. But the league officially drove the final nail in the coffin on Monday.

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was added to the AFC’s roster for the Pro Bowl. You read that right. Sanders, who had more interceptions than touchdowns this season, and had a losing record as a starter—a job he only got due to injury to everybody else on the roster—will take part in the Pro Bowl.

A roster supposedly highlighting the league’s best players. It is one of the more insane selections in the history of the Pro Bowl. NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report the news on X.

“Sanders is the first 5th-round rookie to make a Pro Bowl since Puka Nacua,” Schulz wrote, later adding that the Cleveland signal caller “is the first #Browns QB to make the Pro Bowl since Derek Anderson in 2008.”

Elite company.

Browns Rookie QB Shedeur Sanders Added to Pro Bowl Roster Despite Dismal Stats — Fans Call It a Joke

This is a joke. Granted, this is likely a result of some significant figures being injured, disinterested in playing, or refusing the honor for whatever reason. That’s a problem. But it’s still a joke.

Fans were not impressed.

“What has the Pro Bowl come to?” one fan asked, including a screenshot of Sanders’ stats, including 7 touchdown passes to 10 interceptions, and a rating of 68.1.

Another scoffed, “When people bring up how many Pro Bowls someone has been to as an argument, just show them this.”

“The Pro Bowl is officially a joke, so many QBs are more deserving, even Jalen Hurts,” a disgruntled fan added.

Shedeur Sanders’ rookie season with the Cleveland Browns in 2025 was widely regarded as historically poor, even by the franchise’s already low standards for quarterback play.

His season was marked by inconsistent accuracy, frequent turnovers, and underwhelming efficiency, placing him among the league’s worst performers.

The fifth-round pick finished with a dismal 68.1 passer rating over his seven starts (appearing in eight games total), completing just 56.6% of his 212 passes for 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while posting one of the lowest QBR marks (around 18.9) among qualified quarterbacks.

That dude is a Pro Bowler. The Pro Bowl is officially a travesty.
