Uh-oh. Shedeur Sanders‘ mom is going to be super mad again. Rex Ryan watched the Cleveland Browns quarterback’s post-game comments after winning his first NFL start, and he didn’t like what he saw.

Sanders completed 11 of 20 passes for 209 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, while leading his team to a 24-10 road victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Browns, bringing their record to 3-8 on the year.

His stat line wasn’t exactly awe-inspiring, but he did get the win, thanks to the Browns’ defense manhandling the Raiders’ offensive line. They had ten sacks, three from six-time Pro Bowl defensive end Myles Garrett.

Sanders, to nobody’s surprise, made comments after the game designed to put the spotlight on himself.

“You’ve got to go out there and perform. There’s no choice, there’s no question. Nobody cares if this was one week of prep. Who cares?” Deion’s kid told reporters. “So a lot of people want to see me fail, and that ain’t going to happen. That ain’t going to happen.”

Shedeur Sanders all about ‘me’

What Rex Ryan noticed was the fact that Shedeur Sanders spoke about “me” and what people are doing to “me” after the game. Didn’t give credit to his teammates.

Needless to say, he wasn’t too thrilled with the approach.

“Every time you win a game…please use ‘us’ and ‘we,'” Ryan advised during an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up program. “And anytime you lose, it’s ‘me’ and ‘I.’ And watch your popularity in the locker room and around the country will go [up].

“First thing you should have said is, ‘We had 10 sacks on the quarterback! Are you kidding me? Myles Garrett is the man,'” the former New York Jets coach continued.

Listen, Shedeur isn’t going to change. He’s Deion’s kid, and he’s been taught to think about ‘me, me, me’ his entire life. Multiple NFL legends have attributed Sanders’ cockiness to his brutal fall in the draft—the one where he went from a potential number two overall pick to a fifth-round afterthought.

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry publicly criticized Shedeur earlier in the season over speeding tickets, saying Sanders needs to realize “It’s not just about yourself.”

As Ryan pointed out, it is about himself. In his own head, anyway.

Embarrassing

Rex Ryan drew criticism earlier in the season when Shedeur Sanders was riding the pine, accusing him of talking too much and not putting in the work to become a starter.

It’s important to remember that the only reason he is now the Browns starter is due to a controversial trade of Joe Flacco, and some injuries to the others ahead of him on the roster.

“This kid talks, and he runs his mouth. Like he said, ‘I can be a starting quarterback’ with his arms crossed like this. Get your a– in the front row and study and do all that. If I know, the whole league knows,” Ryan said.

“Quit being an embarrassment that way. You’ve got the talent to be the quarterback, you should be. You should be embarrassed that you’re not the quarterback now.”

Now he’s the starter, finally, and he doesn’t have the humility to credit his teammates. Which is equally embarrassing.

Pilar Sanders, mother of the fifth-round draft choice, had some choice words for Ryan over his comments, firing back on Instagram Stories, by labeling his comments as “impotent, cancerous, envious energy.”
