Former NFL player Aaron Hernandez will be the feature of a new FX show produced by the great Ryan Murphy. It was announced back in 2021 that a series focusing on the rise and fall of the former New England Patriot star was in the works.

We now have a ton more information on this, with reports about who is being cast to play who. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, Patrick, will play Hernandez’s former teammate with the Florida Gators and Patriots Tim Tebow. Ross Jirgl is cast as Tom Brady while Jerry Levine will play Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Meanwhile, Josh Andres Rivera will play Hernandez.

It was back in 2013 that Hernandez was charged in the murder of friend Odin Lloyd. He was found guilty of first degree murder in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison. While on trial for Lloyd’s murder, he was also indicted for the 2012 double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.

Despite being acquitted of those two murders, Hernandez committed suicide in 2017 at the age of 27 while serving that life sentence at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center.

First off, Murphy is known for wildly popular anthology series ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘American Crime Story’, both of which air on FX.

As for the cast, Schwarzenegger is currently cast in the show ‘Gen V’ on Amazon Prime. Ross Jirgl is best known for his role as Butch Cassidy in ‘Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch.”

Jerry Levine has been a longtime character actor. Some of his credits include 1980s hits such as ‘Teen Wolf’, ‘Born on the Fourth of July’ and ‘K-9.’

As for who is playing Aaron Hernandez, Josh Andres Rivera is best known for his roles in ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘West Side Story.’

The series is set to debut September 17 on FX. Here’ a look at the trailer.
