The U.S. men’s hockey team secured a gold medal victory over Canada in a thrilling 2-1 overtime game, only to face completely media-driven criticism for their celebratory visit to the White House.
Following the historic win, the team interacted with President Trump and FBI Director Kash Patel, including laughing *gasp* at a harmless joke about the women’s team needing an invitation as well. Because, ya know, they also won the gold medal.
Soccer star Megan Rapinoe, desperate for attention, publicly condemned the men’s team’s actions, labeling them as “co-opted by a clown” and stating they had “ruined it for themselves.”
Narrator: They didn’t ruin anything.
“In what I like to call a classic ‘ripping defeat from the jaws of victory,’ the United States men’s hockey team, in their utter moment of glory, childhood dreams come true, sensational, ruined it for themselves,” Rapinoe said, practically waving an angry fist at the sky. “They allowed themselves to be co-opted by a clown. And now you’re a clown. You look like a clown.”
It’s hard to imagine somebody who looks like this calling anybody else a clown. And yet, here you have it.
Charles Barkley Defends US Hockey Team Amid White House Controversy
NBA legend Charles Barkley weighed in on the debate, criticizing what he called “sensitive” sports fans for their backlash against the hockey team.
Barkley emphasized that he would have accepted a White House invitation as a champion, regardless of his personal views on Trump, because he respects the office of the presidency.
“I’ve said this before, I’m not a Trump guy. But if I got invited to the White House, I would go. I’m not a Trump guy – I want to make that clear. But I respect the office,” he said. “He’s the president of the United States. But if guys don’t want to go, I understand that, too. It doesn’t have to be a talking point. It doesn’t have to be un-American.”
“I just wish y’all would stop falling for the stupidity.”

If you’re taking advice from someone like Megan Rapinoe, then you are, in fact, falling for the stupidity.
Sometimes, a harmless joke is just that. President Trump quipping to the men that he’d have to invite the women’s hockey team, which he already had every intention of doing, was just that. It’s a joke.
Don’t be dumb enough to fall for the divisiveness people like bottom-feeding, aging former soccer stars are trying to put out there. She’s a clown.
