Piers Morgan publicly accused former U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe of hypocrisy for her silence on the dramatic asylum saga involving members of the Iranian women’s national soccer team.

Several members of the team sought protection in Australia amid fears for their safety back home under an oppressive regime.

The controversy erupted when the Iranian team stood in stoic silence during the anthem ahead of their opening 3-0 loss to South Korea — a move widely seen as resistance against the regime amid the U.S.-Israel joint strikes on Iran.

In their next game, the women saluted sharply and sang loudly during the playing of the anthem, making it clear to some that they were being coerced or had feared for their safety upon returning to Iran.

Iranian Women’s Soccer Team Ignored: Piers Morgan Accuses Megan Rapinoe of Hypocrisy

Witnessing the true oppression of women, Rapinoe has remained silent. She popped off when the US men’s hockey team offended her over a harmless joke, but women’s lives being threatened in her own sport … nothing.

And Piers doesn’t care for that at all.

“The silence over this from Rapinoe, and so many supposed ‘feminists’ like her, is so telling, damning, and hypocritical,” he wrote on X. “They’d rather campaign for biological men to wreck women’s sport than campaign for these heroic young sportswomen to help save their lives.”

Believe me, Rapinoe has no issue running her ignorant mouth when it comes to fake oppression and her hatred of America. She had no problem attacking America’s hockey heroes.

Why? Because they took part in a post-championship celebration that included a phone call with President Trump and an in-person beer-chugging appearance by FBI Director and hockey superfan Kash Patel. And don’t get her started on that little joke Trump made about inviting the women. THAT really got Megan’s boxers in a bunch.

“In what I like to call a classic ‘ripping defeat from the jaws of victory,’ the United States men’s hockey team, in their utter moment of glory, childhood dreams come true, sensational, ruined it for themselves,” Temu Eminem said. “They allowed themselves to be co-opted by a clown. And now you’re a clown. You look like a clown.”

The audacity to say someone looks like a clown while looking like this is mind-numbing…

Morgan was responding to a New York Post column that noted Megan’s silence as the Iranian women’s players and their families’ lives were being threatened by the regime.

“Supporting such heroes should be a no-brainer for western spokespeople for human rights, especially from the sporting world,” the Post Editorial Board wrote.

They point out Rapinoe, whom they refer to as “motormouth,” “couldn’t shut up” about the hockey controversy, but she’s “had nothing to say about her Iranian sisters whose return will be far less amusing, to be sure.”

Rapinoe has not publicly addressed the Iranian team’s situation or Morgan’s criticism. Her most recent podcast episode, released around March 12, focused on WNBA collective bargaining negotiations rather than international women’s soccer issues.

She won’t address it because the story shows the United States as a beacon of hope for women. President Trump demanded that Australia take action and grant asylum to the players who wanted it. They did.

Seven members of the squad accepted humanitarian visas allowing them to remain permanently in Australia, though one has since changed her mind.

While these brave women fight for their lives, Rapinoe sits behind her little podcast microphone, safe, looking like a clown. Is there anybody in sports more cowardly?
