Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green believes the most marketable player in the WNBA is A’ja Wilson.
The four-time NBA champion eschewed Caitlin Clark as the face of the league and instead went with the Las Vegas Aces center. He describes Wilson as a potential “goldmine” for the WNBA.
“I’m not saying Caitlin Clark is the best thing since sliced bread, quite frankly,” he said on Wednesday’s episode of the Draymond Green Show. “If you want my opinion, that’s A’ja Wilson.”
Green even went so far as to declare Wilson would wind up being the greatest player of all time.
“If you want my honest opinion, best thing since sliced bread in the WNBA, to me, is A’ja Wilson,” he continued. “A’ja Wilson is great. And by the way, A’ja Wilson to me is the American dream.”
“Come from a two-parent household, grew, got better, young Black girl, had everything against her, beat the odds to become what soon will be known as the greatest player to ever grace the WNBA. That’s quite honestly my opinion.”

Is A’ja Wilson The Most Marketable Star?
The thing is, Draymond Green is probably 100% right when he claims A’ja Wilson is the American dream, is eminently marketable, and might very well be the best player in the WNBA.
Wilson, at just 27 years of age, is a two-time WNBA champion, a two-time league MVP, a Finals MVP, and has won just about every award one can think of during her career.
And, seemingly right on cue, she put up a historic stat line in the Aces win over the Dallas Wings on Wednesday. Wilson had 36 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 steals in the 95-81 triumph.
In doing so, Wilson became the first player in WNBA history to have at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals in a game. She is also the only woman to eclipse 35 points and 5 steals in multiple games.
Wilson currently leads the league in points (27.9/g), rebounds (12.4/g), and is second in blocks (2.6/g).

Gives Caitlin Clark A Lot Of Credit
To be clear, Green gives Caitlin Clark a ton of praise for what she’s doing for the league. It’s just that Clark’s story has just begun, while Wilson is in the middle of quite possibly the greatest career the WNBA has ever seen.
And he feels league officials are missing a golden opportunity.
“I think A’ja Wilson is as marketable as anybody in the WNBA, but you have to figure out how to market the product,” he said.
“So, yeah I’m not going to sit up here and act like Caitlin Clark ain’t done nothing for the WNBA. That’s bulls—. Yes she has. She’s going to continue to,” added Green. “No, I’m not of the assumption it’s only her.”
“I think y’all got a gold mine in the WNBA sitting right there, marketable as anybody in A’Ja Wilson and haven’t figured out how to make it go.”
While all eyes are on the Clark/Angel Reese rivalry, Green might be correct in his assessment that the league is missing an opportunity by marketing their other stars. And Wilson is chief among them.
