No, Brady isn’t putting his helmet away to pick up a paddle instead. The seven-time Super Bowl champ, along with tennis champion Kim Clijsters, recently joined with a venture capital firm to purchase a brand new pro-pickleball team.

“Of course, I’m excited at the investment opportunity,” said Clijsters in a press release on Wednesday issued by Major League Pickleball. “But what excites me the most about becoming an MPL owner is that I get to help shape the future of Pickleball, a sport I have come to love, with great– who also happen to be some of my best friends.”

Clijsters added that “I’m thrilled to help showcase professional pickleball and make an impact on the sport through my experience gained in the top levels of professional tennis.”

Brady jumped in as well, posting his response to the official announcement on his Instagram account.

“Look, I’ve been trying to find a way to extend my professional sports career beyond my 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s” said Brady, who first started playing pickleball as a hobby a few years ago. “As long as I can, right?”

Brady continued, “I think I got the answer. Seems like everyone else has the answer too. Pickleball. I’m super excited to announce that I’m officially joining the MLP family. We’re going to keep bringing awareness of this thing all around the country, all around the world.

“Look, you know how I do with competition, right? I love that it’s become such a popular neighborhood sport. It’s a great way to get out of the house, but I’m coming to win. I’m coming to dominate the sport. Alright, pickleball. Let’s f**king go!” He concluded.

Pickleball’s popularity in North America has gained traction the last few years. Originally a game associated with active seniors in retirement communities, it’s reputation has become more associated with it’s easy to learn rules and accessibility to athletes and non-athletes alike.
