As reported by his racing team, Killer “B” Racing, Havens was testing his 2021 Pathfinder Chassis at the track to prepare for the upcoming Apple Cup 125 at Tri-City Raceway on April 3rd when his throttle stuck and he impacted the wall hard.

The team revealed on Facebook, “Truly a testament to how safe these cars (2021 Pathfinder)and their safety gear really are. Throttle stuck during testing this morning, Car is dead but Jess is ok with just a possible broken foot.”

“So hard of a hit it moved the barrier back six inches,” the team revealed. Jess being ok is all that really matters. Thank you to everyone who has reached out so far.”

The team would then provide an update on Havens revealing, “He has what is called a Lisfranc foot fracture. You will have to Google it because we’re not sure what it is.”

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons a Lisfranc foot fracture results “if bones in the midfoot are broken or ligaments that support the midfoot are torn.”

They add, “The severity of a Lisfranc injury can vary widely — from a simple injury involving one midfoot joint to a complex injury involving many midfoot joints and broken bones. Midfoot fracture dislocations are named after French surgeon Jacques Lisfranc de St. Martin, who served in the Napoleanic army in the 1800s and observed midfoot injuries in cavalry soldiers.”

Havens provided an update in the comment section of the Facebook post stating, “Foot hurts for sure, glad it’s the only that hurts. Just got out of the hospital, thanks for all the support.”
