Oden was knocked down, got back to his feet, then fell back to the ground. Eventually, he was able to make his way to the cart before being taken off of the field. It doesn’t appear that he sustained any injuries.

The scuffle apparently took place during special teams drills at the two team’s joint practice on Wednesday, Jets tackle Billy Turner exchanged shoves with several Bucs players – mainly linebacker Lavonte David, following a late hit.

According to NJ.com reporter Andy Vasquez, the teams have had “six or seven” scuffles during their lone joint practice session. Most of the short-lived showdowns were deemed as “friend;y fire” incidents, and the two teams reportedly left the field with no hard feelings.

Of course, the Jets pre-season is receiving plenty of attention (if not the most) of any team in the NFL in 2023. That starts with the addition of future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, as well as a rebuilt roster that looks Super Bowl-serious. In addition, they are also the subject of this year’s version of the NFL Film series, Hard Knocks, which has added an extra focus to their every move.

Tony Oden is entering his third season with the Jets, as a defensive assistant and the defensive backs coach. He’s been working with head coach Robert Saleh for several years, as the two worked together with the San Francisco 49ers.
