After a summer of accusations and lawsuits against his ‘former’ family, the Touhys, more known associates of Oher claim that parts of his rags-to-riches life aren’t what they seem

Did you think that the Michael Oher situation was over? We did too, so imagine how surprising it is to see that this fairytale story continues to fall into the deep, dark depths of lies, extortion, and ultimately the saddest thing— the end of a family.

Former NFL player Michael Oher, who was the subject of the biographical film The Blind Side, has been in a legal fight with the Tuohy family for nearly half a year now. Oher has since continued to get pushback on his claim that the Tuohy family enriched themselves off his name since he first launched his lawsuit, as well as his petition to end their conservatorship over him back in August.

Now in the latest chapter of this ‘family’ drama, other individuals who grew up with Oher are calling him out after he appeared on Big Think, attempting to rewrite the narrative of his upbringing once again.

“One of the things that The Blind Side the movie didn’t tell about me is the hard work and the things that I did up until that point,” Oher states in the video.

“It got thrown away a little bit, and that’s something, that’s a message that I would like for the young people to know. You put your head down. You go out. You meet people halfway. You do what’s right, you stay consistent, find discipline, and you can go out and be successful.”

In the documentary Blindsided, the portrayal of Michael Oher in the film The Blind Side is challenged by those who knew him personally. Oher’s foster brothers, Nate and Quwanda Hale, dispute the depiction of Michael as often unhappy, contradicting the film’s narrative.

They also deny the accuracy of a scene where Oher expresses to Leigh Anne Tuohy that he never had his own bed before. Additionally, Quinterio Franklin, one of Oher’s friends and high school teammates, shares his discomfort with the film’s representation of Oher, particularly a scene suggesting Oher’s inability to read and write in high school. Franklin’s reaction was strong enough that he left the theater mid-movie, indicating significant discrepancies between the film’s portrayal and Oher’s actual experiences.

“I’m embarrassed for him as a friend. It’s not accurate and it’s hurtful,” he said.
