Former Major League pitcher Felipe Vazquez is being sent back to his home country after multiple convictions for major sex crimes

Former Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals pitcher Felipe Vázquez was deported back to his native Venezuela on Monday. This comes after he was originally charged with sexual abuse of a minor and child pornography back in September 2019. Vázquez was 28 at the time of the charges.

Vázquez, now 32, was investigated for having an inappropriate relationship with a fan who was only 13 years old at the time of their initial contact. She was reportedly a big follower of the Pirates and sent him a DM – which is what progressed into illegal, sexual activity.

At the time of his arrest, it was reported that Vázquez possessed several nude images of the underage victim, had sent nude photos of himself, and had admitted to having “sex, but not really” with the minor.

Vazquez certainly didn’t do much to cover his tracks either, as his blatant abuse of the child was evident during court proceedings.

At one point in the trial, prosecutors showed the jury alleged text messages between the two in which Vazquez told the teen that she was his “slave” in his “possession.”

On August 17, 2021, Felipe Vazquez was convicted of statutory sexual assault, sexual abuse of children, child pornography, and other charges in Pennsylvania. He’s been in custody there since then until his transport this week.

Vazquez pitched for five seasons in Major League Baseball and made two consecutive All-Star appearances, in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
