Earlier this month, Congress held a hearing on Title IX before the House Oversight Subcommittee on Health Care and Financial Services titled, “The Importance of Protecting Female Athletics and Title IX.”

Title IX has again become a lightning rod in politics with the rise of transgender male athletes competing in women’s categories, and the hearing offered a glimpse into the national debate.

Fatima Goss Graves, who leads the National Women’s Law Center – a pro-gay organization most famous for demanding women’s admission to the Virginia Military Institute – said out loud what her fellow transgender advocates have been reluctant to say.

Learn To Lose, Ladies

At issue were Graves’ comments in the video above:

“Trans students participate in sports for the same reasons as [other] kids. Because it is fun, because it creates belonging, community, because it teaches so much about persistence, leadership and discipline, and last, they learn to lose gracefully – hopefully – and often, win with dignity.”

Undoubtedly, learning to lose gracefully is one of the most important lessons in sportsmanship as in life. But we don’t tell people to lose gracefully when the game was rigged against them to begin with.

Riley Gaines knows all about having the game rigged from the start – she tied male swimmer Lia Thomas for fifth place in the NCAA swimming finals in 2022. Thomas has become one of the most prominent transgender athletes to date.

During the hearing, Gaines told Congress, “Just for the record, I have lost gracefully many times in my career. Even speaking to the incident of Thomas and I, at the national championships, we tied for fifth — granted, fifth in the entire nation, so it’s still an incredible achievement. But there were four women who beat me. I’m incredibly proud of those women who beat me. So, I certainly can and have lost gracefully many times in my career.”

She wasn’t the only one to take issue with Graves’ comments.

The Pile On

Mara Yamauchi, a two-time Olympian marathon runner, let Graves have it:

On the bright side, at least Democrats picked a witness who was able to figure out what a woman actually is this time.

Other Twitter users shared the same opinion:

One user had to point out the obvious in case the experts forgot:

If anyone gets ahold of a time machine, please go into the future and bring us back history books that cover this period. We cannot wait to see what the future thinks of us.
