Comedian Bill Burr recently shared his thoughts on the viral video of a Buffalo Bills fan crying after the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. In his usual style, Burr didn’t hold back, calling the scene “pathetic.”

As some of you might be aware, I take no joy in mocking Buffalo Bills fans and their long-suffering franchise. Just kidding, I relish it. As a New Yorker, I can definitively say that Buffalo is a garbage city in a garbage state.

And their fans talk smack like nobody’s business on social media. So I took tremendous joy in listening to Burr mock the #BillsMafia fan who broke down uncontrollably sobbing after his team got beat by the Chiefs in what is starting to become an annual NFL tradition.

By now, you’ve all seen the footage …

Far be it for me to pour salt in that dude’s wounds – So I’ll let Bill Burr do it for all of us.

“It was fucking pathetic, Paul,” Burr said of the crying Bills fan. “The shit that I saw as a fucking Red Sox fan. As a Patriots fan. As a Bruins fan growing up. You didn’t break down and cry! Now, listen, we were walled off emotionally, but there has been an overcorrection in the American male.”

Overcorrection indeed.

“The fact that that guy could start pulling his hat down and openly sobbing in public with a pom-pom hat on is just — I mean, that’s the kind of thing that gets your country invaded,” Burr joked.

An extremely oversized pom-pom hat, no less.

Look, I am huge on the mantra that nobody knows what anybody else is going through in life. I truly hope that kid didn’t wager his last dollar on his team to win. Perhaps there was a personal connection to that game or team that goes beyond sports for him in his personal life. We learned that with the Detroit Lions fan who also went viral for crying after his team’s win.

But if this is a reaction to the game itself? As Burr said … pathetic.

The comedian also ripped Bills fans in general for not suffering nearly as much as fans of other sports franchises but pretending they’re the epitome of the long-suffering team.

“You know what? Fuck them,” Burr said when Virzi brought up the Bills. “I’m so sick of everybody acting like, ‘Oh my god, it’s gotta be so fucking hard. Paul, nobody chants anything at them.”

Burr was referencing chants that came his way as a Boston Red Sox and New York Rangers fan over the years.

“The fucking Rangers, my whole time growing up (opposing fans yelled), ‘1940!’ Just rubbing it in your face in some regular-season fucking game. They chanted ‘1918!’ at the fucking Red Sox. Dude, look at the little Lions. The Lions went 0-16. Haven’t sniffed a fucking championship since the 1950s.”

Buffalo might not have reached the same level as the Curse of the Bambino or Dutton’s Curse, but they’re certainly getting closer.

They are the proud owners of a two-time ‘wide right’ curse and the only franchise to ever come close to losing four straight Super Bowls.
