Even after building a Super Bowl contender and returning to the playoffs again, one NFL expert says Eagles coach Nick Sirianni might still get fired

Nick Sirianni would seem to be one of the top head coaches in the NFL – especially if you look at his recent list of accomplishments. He’s the guiding force behind the NFC Champions, and he’s got the Eagles (11-6) back in the postseason once again.

Is Sirianni’s Status Secure?

So Sirianni’s spot in the City of Brotherly Love should be safe, right? At 34-17, he’s been as consistent as you could imagine under the headset, so it can be naturally be assumed he’s going to be around with the Eagles for a while.

Not so fast, says reporter Tim McManus, who covers the team as ESPN’s Eagles Reporter. During a recent appearance on The Ringer’s Philly Special podcast with Sheil Kapadia, McManus said the coach could face the consequences of an early playoff exit.

“They might end up moving on,” McManus surmised. “I don’t know if I want to say that’s the most likely, but I do feel that it’s in play.”

Philly Has Floundered

Despite early season success, the Eagles have fallen off mightily in the second half of the season. Once thought to be the bullies of the NFC, they lost five of their last six games down the stretch.

Since then? They have given way to the Cowboys as NFC East Champions… and to the 49ers as the overall favorite in the NFC. And if the Eagles are dismissed early from the playoffs, there’s a chance (even slightly) that Nick Sirriani may be on the next plane out of Philly.

We will find out on Monday Night when Sirianni and his squad take on Tampa Bay (9-8). Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ assault will look to counter QB Baker Mayfield and the battle-tested Buccaneers.
