A Georgia Tech football fan’s Reddit message went viral after they stated they would go back in time to stop 9/11 … so the Yellow Jackets football season wouldn’t have been ruined.

“You have a time machine and can go back and fix something that went terribly wrong for your program. What event do you change?” someone asked on the CFB channel.

The Reddit CFB X account highlighted one response in particular.

Responding to one fan’s assessment that Georgia Tech should have stayed in the SEC, user OneLastAuk suggested something else he wishes could be changed.

“Stay in the SEC is the correct answer here,” the fan concurred before the wheels came off his analysis.

“One smaller one is preventing 9/11 from happening which derailed what would have been a very special 2001 season…we were in the top 10 and poised to beat FSU, but 9/11 postponed that game and we had to sit three weeks without playing before losing to Clemson in overtime,” they added. “We went 5-4 the rest of the year.”

Georgia Tech Football Fan Wishes He Could Change The Past

Yes, Georgia Tech was off to a blistering start in 2001. They began the season 3-0 and defeated Navy 70-7 on September 8th.

That said, what in the actual hell? The X post is approaching 800,000 views at this point, and the responses are incredible.

“I feel the same way about the 1963 Pitt team that could have won a national championship if JFK didn’t get assassinated,” one person replied.

“Preventing 9/11 is a good idea all on its own,” another pointed out.

“I don’t know if I should laugh or cry. I’m going with both,” another wrote after seeing the response.

Curses. The Buffalo Bisons were off to a promising NBL season in 1937 too before the Hindenburg crashed. If only there was some sort of time machine we could use to avoid that tragedy.

College fans are a whole different breed, man.
