Travis Kelce and Kansas City Chiefs heiress Gracie Hunt were heavily criticized for separate actions taken following the Super Bowl parade shooting that killed one woman and injured 22 others, including children.

Despite several players opting to cancel post-parade festivities in light of the tragedy, Kelce went ahead with what has been described as a “scaled-down” party.

The celebration took place “hours” after the tragedy, according to the Daily Mail, and yielded images of the star NFL player having a good time with teammates and their wives and taking selfies with police officers.

Now, to be fair, Kelce was clearly already three sheets to the wind during the parade, so he might not have been making the best decisions afterward.

Still, Kelce was blasted on social media following news that he went through with the party, even at a “scaled-down” level, following the Super Bowl parade shooting.

Kelce did post a statement on X regarding the tragedy.

“I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected,” he wrote. “KC, you mean the world to me.”

That didn’t stop the criticism from rolling in.

Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, donated $100,000 to the GoFundMe account for, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the woman who was killed in the Super Bowl shooting.

Gracie Hunt Also Criticized After Super Bowl Shooting

Gracie Hunt, the 25-year-old former Miss Kansas USA and heiress to the Kansas City Chiefs empire, posted a message of grief on social media but, for reasons known only to her, included a glamour shot holding the Lombardi Trophy.

The message itself was perfectly fine and heartfelt.

“The most beautiful, perfect day of love, laughter, & celebration at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade turned upside down in an instant,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m still processing today’s tragedy. I love this city and I’m angry at what took place and heartbroken for the victims, their families, & the KC community.”

She thanked God for the tragedy not being worse and for those first responders who were at the scene.

The presentation, however, raised the ire of some people.

“People got shot and killed. You need a PR person,” one person commented while others demanded she speak out in favor of stricter gun control measures.

Is the criticism lobbied at Travis Kelce and Gracie Hunt justified? Probably not. Kelce’s actions were under the influence and occurred in what he probably thought was a private gathering. Hunt’s message was sincere and just happened to include photos from that day, hours before the shooting took place.
