On Opening Day 2024, one of the new Baltimore Orioles owners made a bunch of new friends when he surprised a boatload of fans at a local pub by purchasing them all a round of beers.
Thursday was a day of celebration around the baseball world as the new MLB season kicked off. The Baltimore Orioles were one of the many teams who began their season, however, this year’s opener was a bit different than years past.
Earlier this year the organization completed a sale to a consortium led by billionaire David Rubenstein. Among the group that will lead the World Series contenders into the future is fellow billionaire businessman Mike Arougheti. Starting with a victory would be more than enough to satisfy fans and make a good first impression, but Arougheti chose to go a different route as a minority owner of the club.

While the team was inside Camden Yards smashing their way to an Opening Day win over the Los Angeles Angels, Arougheti was a block away at legendary bar Pickles Pub. A video of his appearance ended up going viral on social media as the new MLB boss was caught on camera informing the patrons of the pub that he was buying them all around. The footage of the moment can be viewed above.
Unsurprisingly, the pub was jam-packed as folks watched the Orioles game so Arougheti is sure to have shelled out a boatload of money to make some new friends in Baltimore. Furthermore, the moment is great public relations to curry favor with a fan base dying for owners willing to invest in getting the franchise their first World Series title since 1983.
Mike Arougheti is the co-founder and CEO of investment firm Ares Management. He is a native of New York who has a net worth of $1.9 billion.
