The Detroit Lions aren’t playing any games right now since it’s the offseason, but their cornerback Cam Sutton is still generating headlines, for all the wrong reasons.

According to Florida’s Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Sutton is wanted for domestic battery violence by strangulation dating back to March 7. Authorities state he may be driving a Jeep Grand Wagoneer and even provided a plate number of FL-AZ33QB.

If anyone has any information on the location of Cameron Sutton, informants are asked to dial 813-247-8200.

Very few details have been provided on the actual incident, but here’s what the Sheriff’s Office has provided so far.

“What we can release, that our deputies are comfortable with, is on the 7th of March is when this occurred, around 4:35 in the morning is when we got a call,” assistant chief communications officer Phil Martello told the Detroit News. “It was a domestic violence (call) and we’re not comfortable to really say who (the victim) is.

We tried to make contact with (Sutton). We’ve called him, no answer. He’s been ducking us. Our deputies have exhausted all leads here. He’s got vehicles and a home in a county one over from us and he’s not been there and we’ve not been able to catch him there. So, again, it seems like he’s turned his phone off or gotten rid of his phone or something because we haven’t been able to get ahold of him.”

Sutton, 29, is set to enter his second season with the Lions and his eighth in the NFL. The Jonesboro, Georgia native signed a three-year, $33 million contract in Detroit last offseason. He entered the league as the 94th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sutton is set to make $10.5 million in 2024.

After allowing the sixth-most passing yards in the NFL a year ago, the Lions have added cornerback Carlton Davis via trade and signed Amik Robertson to bring more competition to Aaron Glenn’s defense in 2024.
